The days of boosters seats, sitting atop phone books, and being reluctantly "squeezed-in for a quick cut" have come to a screeching halt for the pint-sized population thanks to our client Pigtails & Crewcuts, a coast-to-coast kids-only hair salon designed and created specifically for kids.
Inside each brightly-colored Pigtails & Crewcuts, four-year-old fashionistas choose specially designed chairs -- including a firetruck, taxi cab, police car, and airplane -- to have their locks cut, styled or braided, while enjoying a lollipop and having their nails painted, all while keeping-up on the latest adventures of Dora the Explorer or Thomas the Tank Engine from nearby video screens.
A full line of Pigtails & Crewcuts' trademarked, kid-approved products are used, with names like Goofy Grape Shampoo, Berries & Bows Conditioner, and Groovy Goo Gel. These, along with a complete selection of other shampoos, conditioners, hair gels, detanglers, bubble baths, lip gloss, ribbons and headbands, are all available for purchase at each salon.
Pigtails & Crewcuts' private Party Room has become the latest hot-spot to see and be seen among the pre-school set, provding the perfect, must-have backdrop for birthday celebrations and other special events. A variety of themed dress-up party options are offered, ranging from Divas to Cowboys and from Princesses to Pirates.
"Hair salons tend to not be very kid-friendly places: hair dryers buzzing, heads wrapped in foil, dyes and processing chemicals in use, and blaring techno soundtracks," says Bob Farster, owner of the newest Pigtails & Crewcuts at the Glen Town Center in Glenview, and himself a dad. "We're a complete departure from all that. Everything we do and everything we offer is centered solely around kids."
